Day-wise Itinerary
Day1
Day 1: Arrival in Mysuru

Mysuru

Morning: Arrive at Mysuru, also known as Mysore, which is famous for its royal history and heritage. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and refresh. Head to the majestic Mysore Palace, which was the residence of the Wadiyar dynasty. The palace is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, and it houses exquisite paintings, carvings, and antiques. Don’t miss the illuminated palace at night, which is a sight to behold. Afternoon: Next, head to St. Philomena’s Church, one of the largest churches in India, built in neo-gothic style with stunning stained-glass windows and intricate carvings. You can also explore Jaganmohan Palace & Art Gallery, which displays a vast collection of paintings from various periods, as well as royal artifacts. Evening: If time allows, visit the Brindavan Gardens, which are located around 30 km from Mysuru. The musical fountain here is a major attraction in the evening. Dinner: Try local Mysore-style meals at RRR Restaurant or enjoy a traditional thali at Mysore Thindi.

Day 2: Mysuru – Coorg (Madikeri)

Morning: After breakfast, set out on a scenic drive towards Coorg, also known as Kodagu. Coorg is renowned for its coffee plantations, misty hills, and rich culture. On the way, stop by the Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe, the largest Tibetan settlement in South India. The monastery, also known as the Golden Temple, is a beautiful Buddhist site with grand golden statues of Buddha. Afternoon: Check into your hotel in Madikeri, the district headquarters of Coorg. Then visit Abbey Falls, located amidst coffee plantations and surrounded by lush greenery. The sight of water gushing down the rocks is simply breathtaking. Also, explore the Madikeri Fort, an imposing structure dating back to the 17th century with a museum inside showcasing Coorg’s history. Evening: Head to Raja’s Seat, a beautiful viewpoint offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, especially during sunset. The place is adorned with manicured gardens and offers a tranquil atmosphere. Dinner: Coorg Cuisine is a must-try for dinner, where you can savor local dishes like Pandi Curry (Coorgi pork curry), Noolputtu (rice noodles), and Kachampuli (vinegar).

Day 3: Coorg Sightseeing

Madikeri

Morning: After breakfast, visit the Coffee Plantations in Coorg to witness the coffee-making process. Take a tour of a local plantation to learn about the cultivation and harvesting of coffee beans. You can enjoy freshly brewed coffee during the tour. Afterward, drive to Talacauvery, the source of the Cauvery River, located on Brahmagiri Hill. This is a sacred spot for the people of Coorg and offers scenic views of the surrounding valleys and hills. Afternoon: Visit Bhagamandala, a pilgrimage site where the Cauvery River, along with two other rivers, meet. Explore the small temple complex at Bhagamandala. Afterward, head to Iruppu Falls, a stunning waterfall located amidst a forest reserve. The falls are a great spot for a trek and to enjoy the beauty of nature. Evening: After a day of exploration, relax in the cool climate of Coorg. If interested, visit the local markets in Madikeri to buy authentic Coorgi spices, coffee, and homemade chocolates. Day 4: Coorg – Ooty

Morning: Today, you will drive from Coorg to Ooty, another beautiful hill station in the Nilgiris. The drive offers beautiful views of the hills and valleys. Once you reach Ooty, check into your hotel and refresh. Ooty is known for its cool climate, colonial architecture, and scenic landscapes. Afternoon: Begin your sightseeing in Ooty with a visit to Ooty Lake. Here, you can enjoy boating or simply take a relaxing walk around the lake. Then, explore the Ooty Botanical Gardens, which cover over 50 acres and feature a wide variety of plants and flowers. The rose garden within the botanical gardens is particularly noteworthy. Day 5: Ooty Sightseeing

Ooty

Morning: Start the day by visiting Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in Ooty and one of the highest peaks in the Nilgiris. From here, you get panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including Ooty and the distant hills. You can also visit the telescope house at the peak. Then, head to the Tea Factory and Museum, where you can learn about the history of tea cultivation in the Nilgiris and see the entire process of making tea. Don’t forget to enjoy some freshly brewed tea at the factory’s café. Afternoon: Visit the Rose Garden, which boasts an impressive collection of over 2,000 varieties of roses. Take your time exploring this well-maintained garden. Later, take a ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, also known as the Ooty Toy Train, which takes you through lush forests, rolling hills, and scenic valleys. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the last few remaining mountain railways in India. Evening: Visit St. Stephen’s Church, one of the oldest churches in Ooty, known for its beautiful stained-glass windows and serene atmosphere. Afterward, relax and enjoy the cool evening breeze.

Day 6: Ooty – Munnar

Ooty

Morning: After breakfast, drive from Ooty to Munnar, which takes around 6 hours. The drive through the Nilgiri Hills and Western Ghats is a scenic journey with tea plantations on both sides of the road. Once you arrive in Munnar, check into your hotel and relax. Munnar is known for its tea estates, picturesque hills, and mist-covered valleys. Afternoon: Visit the Tea Gardens and take a leisurely walk through the plantations, where you can see workers plucking tea leaves. You can also visit the nearby Kundala Lake, a serene spot offering boating opportunities and beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and rest. Afternoon: Visit Perur Pateeswarar Temple, a 1,000-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple’s intricate carvings and Dravidian architecture are worth admiring. Afterward, head to Marudamalai Temple, which is located on a hilltop and offers sweeping views of Coimbatore.
